Formula Compatibility

Formula compatibility describes how a specific cosmetic formulation behaves when it contacts every packaging material in a complete container system. It considers glass, plastic, elastomer, coating, liner, gasket, adhesive and decoration surfaces, and evaluates whether the formula causes swelling, softening, discoloration, sorption, leaching, stress cracking or loss of dose accuracy over the intended shelf life and use cycle. Relevant variables include pH, solvent and oil content, active ingredients, preservatives, fill volume, temperature and contact time. Formula compatibility is a suitability judgment, not automatically a test protocol or a dimensional fit check. Buyers should define the exact formula and package, then request evidence that the assembled system remains functionally and chemically acceptable.
