Packaging Change Control

Packaging change control governs how an approved cosmetic package is modified after specifications, samples, or purchase orders are established. It covers proposed changes to materials, glass dimensions, neck finish, closures, pumps, droppers, decoration, artwork, suppliers, tooling, or assembly methods. Each request should be assessed for technical impact, compatibility implications, regulatory evidence, artwork version, filling-line fit, and stock disposition before approval. The process records who authorized the change, why it was needed, what testing or sample review was repeated, and which BOM revision becomes effective. Unlike BOM control, which defines the approved structure, change control manages transitions between revisions and prevents unverified substitutions from reaching production.
